IN GOOD COMPANY {THANKSGIVING EDITION}

Monday, November 13, 2017

Thanksgiving is upon us and it's surprising that we are less than 2 weeks away from the festivities! This year we'll be hosting Thanksgiving twice next week, which I'm very excited about! We'll be having a small gathering with my youngest sister right before she heads back home to the West Coast and then another on Thanksgiving Day for family here in Houston. I essentially get to set up two parties for the holiday, which makes Thanksgiving prep all the more merrier!

For company on Thanksgiving day, I knew I wanted to go with a cozy, yet elegant feel. Plaids, leather, and wood made the list for my inspiration board, along with romantic finds to balance the overall look. The colorful leaves from the trees, along with the twinkling lights we have strung on our oak trees, made it a no brainer that an outdoor backyard gathering would serve as the perfect Thanksgiving backdrop.

So, if you're creating a celebration for Friendsgiving or for the family, this is a look that will set the tone for wonderful memories, laughter, and cheer with your loved ones. Enjoy!

 Welcome family and friends to your Thanksgiving gathering with a darling sign, like this vintage inspired felt letter board.

Adding a simple and inexpensive chandelier can really elevate the look of your tablescape. I purchased this light fixture from Ikea a few months ago (similar HERE) for under $20, which was strung onto our Pecan Tree, using a white cotton rope.

Romantic finds were added throughout, with included vintage pieces and soft colored flowers of  pink and peach roses, white lisianthus, seeded eucalyptus, and pumpkin toned daisies.

I don't mind breaking the rules when it adds interest to a display. For this plate setting of six, I adorned half of the patterned napkins with gold leaf napkin rings and the other half into a simple pocket fold, before pairing them with crisp white plates. I alternated between two similar place settings, for a beautiful and thoughtful look. To see more napkin folding ideas, check out this link HERE.

All the decor came to life, thanks to our handmade 8-foot cedar wood table and these gorgeous cozy pillows. After visiting a nearby shop that sold fire wood, we were able to score a few pecan wood pieces that served as the legs of the table. They couldn't have been a cuter addition!

The pillows used for comfy seating were a combination of pillow covers from IKEA that I added embellishments to and a couple of new pillows from Sew +Cloth.  I absolutely adore the buffalo check and faux leather pillows from Sew + Cloth so much, that I now have them displayed in our living room. They are truly well-made with high quality fabric and I highly recommend this Etsy shop.

Don't be afraid to experiment with different patterns as I did here. Choose decor that fits within your color palette and has similar patterns. For example: Plaid + Stripes. You can truly create a beautiful place for gathering with these style tips and I hope this inspires you to host this year's Thanksgiving holiday! I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
