DIOR CAPTURE TOTALE DREAMSKIN CUSHION

Monday, March 13, 2017

I've always been a fan of cream foundations, for it's natural finish and light weight feel. Tom Ford foundations, along with the Hourglass Vanishing Foundation Stick are among my favorites, providing medium to full coverage that lasts all day. So, when the Dior Totale Dreamskin Cushion launched, I was eager to give it a try, as it appeared to have that same natural finish, but with added skincare benefits! I was very much on board with that!  As a mom of two, a one-and-done product is essential, as you want your foundation to be effortless and portable for touch-ups on the go.

The Dior cushion is marketed as a tinted skincare cushion that perfects your skin by blurring imperfections, minimizing pores and signs of aging, while protecting your skin with SPF 50.  It provides a luminous finish and is infused with two exclusive ingredients from the Dior Gardens - longoza and opilia that work to combat against wrinkles, dark spots, and minor redness.

Since it is a tinted skincare formula, sheer to light-medium coverage (at most), is what you will achieve with this cushion.  I do have normal to dry skin with an occasional blemish or two, so I was content with light coverage that would even out my skin tone.  This cushion provided just that with one application using the sponge included.  For additional coverage, I use a dense round brush to stipple onto any additional redness that needs blurring. The end result was a your skin but better appearance with my freckles still peeking through. After applying the new Nars soft matte concealer under my eyes and a light dusting of translucent power by Laura Mercier, my base was complete and good to go for the rest of the day.

I was pleasantly surprised that I maintained a radiant glow that never felt oily. I did touch up with powder at the 4 hour mark around my t-zone and the product surprisingly stayed put with my bronzer, blush & highlighter still intact. This cushion retails for $82, but it does come with one refill.  To help justify the price, this cushion is essentially a serum, tinted moisturizer, and SPF all in one, which are pretty pricey sold separately.

If you are on the search for a product with many uses, then this is definitely one to consider. I truly do appreciate days when I wear this because my makeup routine is cut down significantly. For busy gals such as myself or for days at the gym, this can actually be a god send! You can skip out on the separate anti-aging serum & SPF and move straight to primer and this cushion.

As a helpful tip, this cushion works best with the Dreamskin Perfect Skin Creator, which acts as a primer to be used in conjunction with this Dior cushion. Together your skin is left with a poreless, radiant, and youthful appearance. I get the most compliments when I wear this combo. However, both are a steep price and found that smoothing primers, like Benefit's POREfessional and Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer were pretty comparable alternatives.

So, do give it a try!  With it's light coverage, the 4 shades available are very forgiving.  I use 020 for light-medium to medium skin tones, but I did sample 030, which is best for medium tan skin. I hope this helps gauge the color spectrum when deciding on a color match. So, do I recommend it?! If the budget allows, then absolutely! Let your natural beauty shine through friends!

Warmly ~
